It can impact your confidence, comfort and quality of life. While you may know that a single missing tooth can be replaced with a single dental implant, did you know that several missing teeth can also be replaced by a single dental implant? Otherwise known as a multiple-tooth implant or an ‘implant-supported bridge’, it represents a step up from conventional bridges or partial dentures. It is also a cost-effective alternative to replacing every missing tooth with an implant-supported crown.
At Rowtree Dental, our skilled prosthodontist, Dr Wail Girgis, has helped many people restore their smiles with advanced implant dentistry. Here’s what patients can expect:

Contact UsSimilarly to a conventional bridge, a multi-tooth implant relies on a pontic ‘bridging’ restoration to span the gap. However, unlike conventional bridges, which rely on crowns attached to adjacent teeth, the bridging tooth, in this case, is supported by the implant itself. Because the implant is anchored directly into the jawbone, the foundation is stronger and independent. In other words, it doesn’t require the support of other teeth!
For two adjacent missing teeth, a multi-tooth implant may be anchored into the first gap, coupled with a cantilevered ‘bridging’ tooth covering the second, alternatively, if you have 3-5 adjacent missing teeth, we might suggest a multiple-tooth implant at either end of the gap with a bridging tooth or teeth spanning the middle, finally, 5-6 missing teeth may use just 3 multiple-tooth implants with corresponding bridging teeth spanning the remaining gaps. As you can see, multi-tooth implants are a flexible, functional and cost-effective option for restoring several teeth.

ExploreEssentially yes! Unlike conventional bridges and partials, multi-tooth implants won’t compromise neighbouring teeth and will preserve your jawbone.
Possibly, yes! Even with bone loss, you may still be a candidate for dental implants. In these cases, we may recommend a process called bone grafting to build up deficient bone before implants are placed. During your initial consultation, we’ll assess your bone levels anyway and will discuss suitable options for you.
We only use quality implant systems like Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Bio-Horizons, so there is no reason why, with good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, your newly placed implants can’t last several decades or more. Implants are one of the most durable and reliable tooth replacement options available.
Multi-tooth implants have a very high success rate, typically somewhere between 95% and 98%. However, success depends upon key factors like ongoing oral hygiene, whether you smoke and your overall general health.
