Dental emergencies can strike at any time, so it’s good to know that our team is here if you need us.

Whether you’re currently experiencing a prolonged toothache or tooth pain, you’ve bitten down on something and lost a tooth, or you’ve suffered a dental trauma, we set aside time in our day to deal with dental emergencies and provide same-day appointments when necessary. In other words, if you have a dental problem, pick up the phone and we’ll do our utmost to get you seen by our emergency dentist in Northampton.

Call our emergency dentist if you have the following:

  • Prolonged or severe toothache that won’t go away with standard over-the-counter medications.
  • Swelling caused by an abscess or infection.
  • Knocked out or partially avulsed teeth.
  • Broken teeth.
  • Broken appliances, such as dentures, that prevent you from eating normally.
  • Loose veneers, bridges or crowns.
  • Prolonged or excessive bleeding stemming from the teeth or gums.

We’ll quickly assess you over the phone and ascertain whether you need to see us right away. If so, we’ll make arrangements for you to come straight in and will pair you with the right dentist to deal with the problem. Alternatively, if the problem can wait until the next day, like a loose veneer or crown, we’ll make an appointment for you and get you in at your earliest convenience.

If the issue is one of pain or bleeding, then at the very least, we’ll do what it takes to get you out of any discomfort. Then, if we need to, we’ll continue treatment the next day. Either way, we guarantee you’ll leave us in a better condition than when you first came in.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What qualifies as a dental emergency?

A dental emergency includes severe toothache, knocked-out or broken teeth, swelling, bleeding that won’t stop, or signs of infection. If you’re in pain or unsure whether it’s an emergency, please contact us for advice.

Do you offer same-day emergency appointments?

Yes, we do our best to offer same-day appointments for dental emergencies during our regular clinic hours. Please call us as early in the day as possible so we can prioritise your care.

Can I be seen out-of-hours for a dental emergency?

We don’t currently offer out-of-hours or 24/7 emergency dental care. However, we aim to accommodate urgent issues promptly during our opening hours. If your emergency occurs outside our opening hours, please contact NHS 111 for further assistance.

What should I do if I knock out a tooth?

If a tooth is knocked out, try to gently place it back in the socket (without touching the root) or keep it in milk and call us immediately. Time is critical, so contact us as soon as possible for a same-day appointment.
